Ticketing

  1. Enhanced capacity of e-ticketing system from 2,000 tickets/min to 7,200/min. Supporting 1.2 lakh concurrent users now, as opposed to 40,000 earlier.
  2. Sale of tickets through hand held terminals. The 'Points of Sale' to have minimal infrastructure requirement.
  3. Facility of cancellation through the 139 helpline post verification using OTP
  4. E-ticketing facility to foreign debit/credit cards
  5. Bar coded tickets, scanners and access control on a pilot basis
  6. Increased quota for senior citizens and women travellers this year
  7. Expansion of Vikalp - train on demand to provide choice of accommodation in specific trains to WL passengers
  8. To offer optional travel insurance for rail journeys at the time of booking.
  9. Integrate all facilities into two mobile apps dealing with ticketing issues and for receipt and redressal of complaints and suggestions.
  10. Sale of platform tickets through ticket vending machines compatible with cash & credit/debit cards
  11. Progressively ensure CCTV coverage at tatkaal counters.
  12. Plan to institutionalise a system of third party periodic audits and certification of security features of the PRS website.
