ES: Please introduce yourself and also share your vision and mission or goals in life.

Anita: Helping people acquire financial stability & strength has always been my vision & mission. And who better than socially & economically downtrodden women sanitation workers to begin this mission with! Thus began my journey in 1994 as an Insurance Advisor by helping out such deserving women in Pune; the city of my birth & Karma.

ES: What inspired you to choose the career of a financial advisor / distributor?

Anita: Having completed my post graduation with distinction in Commerce stream,

I always wanted to be a self employed professional. And I chose to become a Financial Advisor to help people gain financial stability.

ES:Setting the financial advisory business takes some time. How did you handle the challenges on the financial front in the initial period of the business?

Anita: Unwavering focus & sheer hard work helped me progress. Encouragement and support of my family helped me overcome difficulties during the initial phase.

ES:What made you to join NJ as NJ Partner ?

Anita: In my quest to acquire more knowledge & insight of financial sector, I learnt about NJ, from an insurance sector colleague in year 2005. NJ business model of partnership appeared to me as not only unique but very dynamic. NJ’s focus on mutual fund distribution through a well structured organization and a highly committed team of energetic professionals was a rare combination to see. It therefore took me no time to decide to become NJ Partner in 2005.

ES: Do you promote the idea of savings through MF SIP in your clients?

Anita: Most certainly! No other financial instrument gives as much advantage of averaging & compounding for creation of wealth & funding of long term financial goals.

ES: Client communications is an integral part of your business. Please share any best practices / services related to communications adopted by you.

Anita: In my understanding communication is equal to confidence. Regular email updates are sent to our clients on important changes in compliance requirements, other points, which have the potential to affect the financial planning process of the clients. In addition, we devote considerable time in periodic “review” of financial plans of clients. This regular communication and connect keeps the confidence of the client intact!

ES: How much importance do you give to Insurance in you advisory practice?

Anita: Insurance in my view is primarily for the income protection needs. And protection of income of every client is critical for the welfare of the client and his/her family. Insurance thus forms a very critical part of our services.

ES:How do you educate and convince your clients for mutual funds, especially the first time clients?

Anita: Besides one to one meetings, we also create awareness through workshops. Instead of convincing the clients, we empower our clients through genuine knowledge sharing. This helps them immensely to seek ownership & responsibility of their own financial plan. Furthermore, we assure our committed support to them and live up to that promise.

ES:Your experience with NJ's technology initiatives in terms of various Desks for Clients & Partners ?

Anita: It wont be an exaggeration if I say that the technology platforms that NJ provides are most robust, time relevant, dynamic, effective and yet very user friendly. Value of our services increases immensely due to these “Desks”. Constant upgradation of the “desks” not only enhances their novelty but makes them ‘UNIQUE”.

ES:How you evaluate NJ's technology initiatives such as various On-line Desks & Mobile Solutions ?

Anita: In addition to on-line desks, the mobile solutions also help us, as well as our clients get seamless access of whole host of valuable info, reports and services while “on the go” anywhere. ES: Please share with us any standards / best practices related to client segmentation. If yes, also share any differentiation made in service offerings to these client segments.

Anita: : By and large, we provide good support to all clients. However key accounts by virtue of AUM and or SIP amount are defined and such accounts are given more focus and time.

ES: What type of a boss / leader do you see yourself as? What is the image of the ideal boss that you aspire to become?

Anita:Inspiring and result oriented.

ES: Can you share any incident /event which has had a lasting impact on you or your business as a financial advisor /distributor?

Anita: My progress over the years is the culmination of many events.

ES: How do you assess /see the future of financial advisory business in India? How can we as Partners be ready / prepared to make the most of it?

Anita: With India making rapid strides on her way to become a “Developed” nation, financial advisory services are bound to assume more significance. Overload of information through electronic media, coupled with frequent changes of many types in products & services will create more chaos & confusion in the minds of people. This will bring up the inevitability of competent and trustworthy financial advisors. As partners, it is important for us to keep ourselves regularly updated with subject knowledge, make best use of technology platforms and be genuine and committed in our support to the clients.

ES: Self evaluation and assessment is something we all should do regularly. How do you assess your own self and/or your business? Are there any specific parameters you refer to?

Anita:To improve the quality of my advisory services, periodic internal business reviews are important for me. They are focused more on improving the quality and value of client portfolio, various compliances for the client, shifting old clients from physical to E-Wealth. Self improvement is equally important. In that, I ensure regular reading of various subject books. We also seek regular feedback from our clients.

ES: How much importance do you give to Asset Allocation & Risk Profile while offering solution to clients need?

Anita: Asset allocation and risk profiling are very important in our process flow.

ES: Winning the trust of a Client is not an easy task. How do you think you can win the trust of the Clients?

Anita: Genuine advice, trustworthy support and keeping the client’s interest at the forefront have helped us win the trust of the clients.

ES: What suggestion / advice you would like to give to new Partners who have yet not established themselves in the business?

Anita: My suggestion to them is only one – stay focused, be genuine and never by shy of hard work.

ES: Can you please share your short term and long term targets for your business.

Anita: My short term target is AUM of 100 Cr and long term is 1000 Cr.
