ES: Please introduce yourself and also share your vision and mission or goals in life?
Arindam: I am Arindam Chakraborty from a small city Chandannagar, which is located 30 kilometers north of Kolkata,. I completed my M.A. (in Literature) in the year 2011. After completing my master’s I realized that my mind is blocked for many reasons and I needed to pursue something exciting, thence I decided to start my own Insurance Advisory business. I was almost three years into the business, when I got the opportunity to become a MF advisor, and my life totally changed after that, I finally started my consultancy firm (Mohor Consultancy). At present I am managing Rs. 21 Cr. AUM + 28 lakh live SIP accounts from 600 + clients. My vision is providing the best financial planning services and offering Wealth Creation + protection solutions to my clients. My mission is achieving Rs. 100 Cr + AUM and 1Cr. Live SIP accounts by 2020.
ES: What inspired you to choose the career of a financial advisor / distributor?
Arindam: I love to work independently, so I chose to pursue financial advisory. Advisory job is one where I work and can take decisions for myself without anyone directing me to do so. I think being a financial advisor is a noble profession, where one gets to consistently contribute towards the betterment of others' lives. That’s why I chose this profession and obviously I am proud of my self to be a financial consultant.
ES: What made you join NJ as an NJ partner?
Arindam: I joined NJ because it is the best distribution house in India, all financial products are available here under one roof. But over my career, being associated with NJ, I realized that there are a number of other factors which make NJ the best distribution house, like NJ's service; NJ's technology initiatives, including NJ Partner Desk, NJ E-wealth account; and last but not the least the continuous training & guidance that NJ provides to its Partners.
ES: Do you promote the idea of savings through MF SIP among your clients?
Arindam: Yes, of course, Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) is a smart and hassle free mode of investing money in Mutual Funds as it offers flexibility and convenience. I always suggest my clients to invest in equity mutual funds through the SIP route and also advise them to stay invested for the long term, at least 5 years, and lastly I advise them to do goal based SIP's.
ES: Client communications is an integral part of your business. Please share any best practices / services related to communications adopted by you.
Arindam: Communication is the best link between a client and his/her advisor and that’s how I make all my clients realize that I am always there for them. I would like to thank NJ for introducing the bizmall service, it helps in maintaining an effective level of communication between me and my clients. NJ MCS service also helps, the MCS' are appreciated by my clients.
ES: How do you educate and convince your clients for mutual funds, especially the first time investors?
Arindam: I show them the Mutual Fund return comparisons with gold, PPF and LIC (except term plan) where the returns may not be even covering inflation, whereas equity mutual funds have given returns of about 15% over a period of 10 – 15 years, and has helped in beating inflation by wide margins.
ES: Your experience with NJ's technology initiatives in terms of various desks?
Arindam: As a partner I can say that all technology initiatives from NJ are just wonderful, I have seen few other outside desks also but honestly NJ's technological desks are much more advanced & get updated from time to time.
ES: What advantages do you feel NJ E-wealth offers to both clients and partners?
Arindam: I would only say that E-wealth account is not just technology, it also provides great flexibility to clients. Because clients can invest their money in any fund, from anywhere without any trouble. For Partners, E-wealth account helps in saving a lot of time since there is no paperwork, and is easily accessible from anywhere in the world.
